About the Journal
Batulis Civil Law Review (BALLREV) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal published by the Faculty of Law, Universitas Pattimura, Indonesia. The journal is dedicated to advancing scholarly research in Civil Law and Contemporary Private Law, with particular emphasis on the development, interpretation, application, and transformation of private legal relationships across diverse legal systems and jurisdictions worldwide.
BALLREV has a global geographical scope. The journal welcomes research on Civil Law and Contemporary Private Law from any country, region, jurisdiction, or legal tradition. Research may examine private law within a single jurisdiction, compare legal rules or institutions across jurisdictions, or address broader theoretical and conceptual questions concerning the development and transformation of Civil Law and Private Law.
BALLREV provides a specialized scholarly forum for research examining how private legal relationships evolve in response to legal reform, technological innovation, economic development, globalization, and societal change. The journal considers both established and emerging issues in private law and welcomes scholarship addressing the continuing development of Civil Law in changing legal, economic, technological, and social contexts.
The journal welcomes doctrinal, empirical, comparative, socio-legal, historical, theoretical, and interdisciplinary research. Comparative and cross-jurisdictional perspectives are particularly welcomed where appropriate, but comparative analysis is not required for publication. The journal values original scholarship that demonstrates sound legal analysis, theoretical contribution, rigorous empirical findings where applicable, or meaningful insights into the development and application of Civil Law and Contemporary Private Law.
BALLREV welcomes contributions from scholars, researchers, legal practitioners, judges, policymakers, and other professionals worldwide. The journal seeks to facilitate meaningful scholarly dialogue across different legal traditions and jurisdictions and to contribute to the broader international development of Civil Law and Contemporary Private Law.
The journal's areas of interest include, but are not limited to, Civil Law Theory and Legal Doctrine, Obligations, Contract Law, Tort Law, Property Law, Family Law, Inheritance Law, Commercial and Economic Private Law, Civil Justice, Protection of Private Rights, Comparative Civil Law, Transnational Private Law, and emerging developments in contemporary private law, including legal issues arising from digital transformation, artificial intelligence, digital assets, smart contracts, data protection, fintech, and other technological and societal developments.
Through rigorous peer review and high editorial standards, BALLREV seeks to promote academic excellence, editorial integrity, international collaboration, and meaningful comparative legal scholarship.
